Before Starting the Migration From ClickFunnels 1.0 to 2.0
There are a few things that should be discussed before starting the migration.
Why Migrate from ClickFunnels 1.0 to 2.0?
ClickFunnels 2.0 is a new and improved version of ClickFunnels software.
It comes with far more features than the previous version: ClickFunnels 1.0 (launched in 2016).
Compared to the old version of ClickFunnels, ClickFunnels 2.0 is much more versatile, lighter, and welcomes users with much more features than before.
This version will run as a separate platform from the already existing ClickFunnels 1.0 (meaning that both versions 1.0 and 2.0 will be available at the same time).
ClickFunnels 2.0 not only has everything already in version 1.0, but it also has many new features such as a funnel hub, visual automation builder, CRM funnels, eCommerce site builder, blog builder, and many more that the previous version did not have.
So ClickFunnels 2.0 is the future, and ClickFunnels 1.0 is the past.
Even though ClickFunnels 2.0 is not yet a fully developed product, from now on all the focus will be on this product.
In the meantime, I highly doubt ClickFunnels 1.0 will receive any major updates.
Therefore, when thinking about the future of your business, you should consider migrating your funnels from ClickFunnels 1.0 to 2.0.
Also, I wrote my personal ClickFunnels 2.0 review, which you can find here.
Some Important Things to Know
However, before migrating to ClickFunnels 2.0, I would suggest that you pay attention to a few very important points.
- ClickFunnels 2.0 cannot automatically migrate your funnels from ClickFunnels 1.0. So most of the work will have to be done manually.
- If you have accumulated a large amount of leads/users in ClickFunnels 1.0, you will also need to transfer them manually. And it can be a bit of a complicated process. As far as I know, ClickFunnels is already working on solving this problem, but it is not very easy to do at the moment. Although in this article I will share a small workaround.
- You will also need to rebuild the funnels and their design manually. Well, the good news is that the ClickFunnels 2.0 page builder is much faster and more intuitive than ClickFunnels 1.0, so it shouldn’t take too long.
So, getting to the point – here’s what you should do.
How to Migrate ClickFunnels 1.0 Funnels to ClickFunnels 2.0?
So, here’s what the whole ClickFunnels 2.0 migration process should look like:
- Create a ClickFunnels 2.0 account
- Setup a FunnelHub (a.k.a. Funnel Design)
- Migrate your contacts
- Setup your Funnels and Products
- Copy Your Emails and Workflows
- Setup your payment gateway
Let’s take a closer look at each of these steps
1. Create a ClickFunnels 2.0 Account
So, the very first thing you will need to do is create a ClickFunnels 2.0 account.
The good news is that you can currently get a 30-day trial of ClickFunnels 2.0 to try and test this new software.
To receive this offer, all you have to do is sign up for Your First Funnel Challenge and on the Thank You page you will be prompted to confirm your 30-day trial.
When you first log into the ClickFunnels 2.0 dashboard, you should see the following checklist of things to do to get your site live.
Perhaps one of the best options would be to follow what is indicated in this checklist.
But let’s look at some other very important steps.
2. Setup a FunnelHub (a.k.a. Funnel Design)
One of the first steps you should take after creating a ClickFunnels 2.0 account is to re-design your funnels.
Unfortunately, at least at this time, ClickFunnels does not provide an option to automatically migrate your funnels from ClickFunnels 1.0 to 2.0.
So it will have to be done manually.
And you can do this using the FunnelHubs feature
The Funnel Hub is the main hub of your sales funnel website.
In other words, it is the main control panel from which you can easily and quickly manage all the pages and sales funnels you have created.
Once you’re logged into your ClickFunnels 2.0 admin dashboard, then go to Site & Funnels.
Then in the window that opens, click the Customize button and re-design your funnels.
When you’re done re-designing funnels, it’s time to move on to the next step.
3. Migrate Your Contacts
Currently, there is one small problem with transferring contacts to ClickFunnels 2.0 – the new version of ClickFunnels does not yet have a tool that allows you to transfer contacts automatically, nor does it allow you to transfer them all at once, for example using a .csv file.
However, as far as I know, ClickFunnels developers are currently working on such a tool.
And for now, there are two ways – the first is more complicated and more suitable only for those who have a very small amount of contacts, the other is not so complicated but also has certain shortcomings.
So what are those ways:
- Move contacts one by one manually
- Create a new ClickFunnels 2.0 funnel and send it to all your contacts so they can re-register to the new system.
Here’s a closer look at each:
3.1. Move Contacts One-by-One Manually
To transfer contacts one by one you will need to go to ClickFunnels 1.0 and then click on ClickFunnels > Contacts in the top menu bar.
Here you will find a complete list of your contacts and the most necessary information about them.
Then go to your ClickFunnels 2.0 account and look for the Contacts section in the left menu bar.
Then, in the window that opens, at the top, on the right side, go to Add contact > Manually add contacts…
…and enter your contact details.
3.2. Create a New ClickFunnels 2.0 Funnel And Send It to All Your Contacts So They Can Re-Register to The New System.
This is a bit of a workaround that can help move most of your contacts much faster and easier.
Basically what you should do is create a new funnel in ClickFunnels 2.0 and send it to your current contact list so they can sign up for the new system themselves – just like they did in ClickFunnels 1.0.
After creating a new funnel, you should simply write a letter to all your contacts that you are moving to a new system and that you need your users to transfer their data there.
And so that your contacts are more interested in moving to the new system themselves, you can give them some kind of incentive – for example, some kind of free gift, or if the previous funnel had a monthly subscription, you can offer them the first month for $1.
This is not a perfect option. And the biggest drawback is that you won’t be able to transfer all your contacts this way.
However, the most active contacts who want to stay with you will definitely do so.
And the advantage is that you will transfer a large number of contacts at once.
4. Setup Your Funnels And Products
Unfortunately, ClickFunnels 2.0 does not yet allow migrating funnels from ClickFunnels 1.0 automatically.
However, there are two ways to do this:
1. Get a funnel migration tool
2. Rebuild all your funnels manually.
Let’s take a closer look at this entire process.
4.1. Create Your Product
Unlike ClickFunnels 1.0, in ClickFunnels 2.0 you only need to create your product once and you can sell it in different funnels.
So first you should create a new product.
To do this, go to Products > Create product.
Choose what type your product will be, enter the name and description, and press Create product.
Add the price in the next window.
And then all you have to do is add the rest of the product details such as product images, SEO information, tags, etc.
4.2. Migrate Your Funnels
So as I said there are two ways to migrate your funnels:
1. Get a funnel migration tool
2. Rebuild all your funnels manually.
4.2.1. Get a Funnel Migration Tool
There is a tool called Move My Funnels that is specifically designed for just that – to easily and quickly move funnels from ClickFunnels 1.0 to ClickFunnels 2.0.
You can purchase this tool by clicking on the link below:
The main thing this tool does is it allow you to transfer your funnels from ClickFunnels 1.0 to ClickFunnels 2.0 in just 1 click.
Here’s how it works:
It downloads the ClickFunnels 1.0 data and automatically imports it to your pages in ClickFunnels 2.0, without you having to do anything.
This saves a lot of time and can be especially useful if you have a lot of funnels in ClickFunnels 1.0.
You can see it in action here.
If you think that this tool is not necessary for you, then you can try to move the funnels manually.
4.2.2. Rebuild Your Funnel Manually
Once you’ve created your products, go to Site & Funnels > Funnels and create your funnels.
Interestingly, in ClickFunnels 2.0, you can choose to create a funnel from Funnel Recipes, which will provide you with a funnel template based on the type of funnel you want to create.
Once you’ve selected the Funnel Recipe you want, you’ll be instantly presented with a complete funnel template, and all you have to do is assign a design to each one.
Without a doubt, if it is not suitable to provide Funnel Recipes, you can create a funnel from a blank page.
Once you’re done creating your funnels, move on to the next step.
5. Copy Your Emails And Workflows
One more thing that should be done is to move all emails and workflows from ClickFunnels 1.0 to ClickFunnels 2.0.
Unfortunately, there is no automatic tool here either, so everything will have to be done manually.
To move all your emails, go to Marketing, and there, according to your previously executed email marketing, set up workflows, broadcasts, etc.
Once you have transferred all your emails, the last step remains.
6. Setup Your Payment Gateway
ClickFunnels 2.0 uses a proprietary system called Payments.ai to handle payments.
To accept payments, you will need to register with the Payments.ai system and confirm your business details using their wizard.
Once you have submitted all the details and documents and your account is approved, you can then link your Stripe and PayPal accounts to this system and start accepting payments.
That’s all. The main funnel migration work is done.
In Conclusion
I would like to point out that only the main funnel migration jobs have been listed here.
Depending on the funnels you create in ClickFunnels 1.0, some of the steps may differ.
For example, I didn’t touch on membership site migration in this guide. Which, by the way, will also need to be rebuilt by yourself.
But for most users, this step is not relevant.
One more thing, if you are using your own domain, you will also need to point it to the ClickFunnels 2.0 system. You can find how to do it in this guide.
You will probably even be surprised how easy it is to use ClickFunnels 2.0 (especially if you used ClickFunnels 1.0 – you will definitely feel the difference).
And if you don’t have ClickFunnels 2.0 yet, you can try it for 30 days for free (the subscription can be canceled at any time).
